MRO has several great fishing guides. I have had the pleasure of fishing with most of them one time or another when Rick Welle wasn’t available.
However, I have been fortunate to fish with Rick for almost thirty years. Why am I fortunate? He’s half fish and knows every run, rock and pocket that holds trout in the Madison River.
Most of all, his knowledge of the outdoors, birds, animals, trees and flowers always adds to the day.
Finally, he is a very humble gentleman that you want for a friend and can’t help having a great day on the river with him.

Thanks so much for the guiding today! Fishing was great, even with the wild weather shift we ran into. We had a blast and this is our best float trip yet. After a week of difficult fishing in the park, this trip topped off the week perfectly. Here are a few pictures we thought you’d enjoy. We now know we should be prepared to duck when the browns take to flight!

Just wanted to let you know that we enjoyed our August 19th guided fishing trip immensely! Rick and Mickey were awesome! They taught us a tremendous amount about aquatic ecology and biology, local history, etc, etc…not to mention fly fishing for trout. It was just plain fun spending the day with them. Please give them both our praise and thanks. We definitely hope to be able to book a trip with you again the next time we are in the area.

I have been fishing of of West Yellowstone for about 15 years, and have used Madison River Outfitters for my fishing supplies, my guides, and as my fishing coach. They are always a great resource for a part-time fisherman like me, I really enjoy the people there, and the guides are very professional and great at getting me over fish. Mike Loebl has been my fishing guide for several of those 15 years, and I have not only caught a lot of fish with him, but I have also learned a lot about fishing from him. They are the best, most professional, and friendliest outfitter in West Yellowstone!

Hi Brad, Mickey and Peter, This e-mail is long over due. I have been involved in a project at work since we returned from our trip in mid July. Morgan and I want to say thanks for two incredible days of fishing. Your service to your clients is awesome! I have been day dreaming about our time floating the Yellowstone, fishing for gulpers on Hebgen lake and wading the Madison since we returned. I can’t say enough about your attention to details and your knowledge of fishing. Brad your shop and staff are great. Morgan and I felt so welcomed every time we walked through your door. Mickey thank you for the great day floating the Yellowstone and catching Cutthroats. Thanks for your great guided tour of the park. We saw more wildlife with you in one day than we saw during the remainder of our trip. Peter thank you for the awesome time on Hebgen lake and wading the Madison. Lake fishing was a great new experience. The Madison and its trout were incredible even the whitefish. I really appreciate how you both worked with Morgan and I to help us catch fish. Your patience was appreciated. We plan on coming back sometime in the future. Thanks for making our first trip to West Yellowstone so incredible!
